Every summer, Bermuda comes alive with the energy, colour, and tradition of Cup Match—the island’s most anticipated two-day cricket event and cultural celebration. Held annually in late July or early August, Cup Match honours the emancipation of enslaved Bermudians and is a time when the entire island unites in festive spirit.
The two rival cricket clubs, Somerset and St. George’s, compete in a friendly but fiercely supported match that draws passionate crowds, vibrant festivities, and a truly electric atmosphere. Beyond the pitch, Cup Match is a cultural cornerstone featuring beach gatherings, Crown & Anchor tables, lively concerts, and the much-loved tradition of camping along Bermuda’s scenic coastline.
For visitors, it’s the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the heart of Bermudian culture, experience local cuisine, and witness the island’s infectious community spirit first-hand.
